The Awesome Weekend

Hey Guys and Gals,

Welcome to my second post on my newly found blog. I have decided to bring out posts more often than once a month. This is so I don't forget the very things I feel I want to detail. So with that being said, Lets get started.

This past weekend was a busy one for me. On Saturday night I performed with Jenna Sighed and we did an Emalyth gig - Lure of Shadows. Situated at Rumours Lounge in Weltevreden Park, the show started off at about 6. Despite the cold air outside, it was certainly warm inside. The sound was clear and loud and for a minute I couldn't differentiate between my heart beat and the bass thumping. It was now our time and Jenna Sighed leaped on stage after setting up with a certain quickness and after doing a nice little line check we hit our set. It was definitely fun and our first Emalyth show seemed to be enjoyed by the folk at Rumours. We will be doing another Emalyth show on the 28th July and I will be sure to keep you all posted.

Also on Saturday, the boys from Energy Related went into Wired Sound Studios and finished off the guitars and bass. They pulled off a 12 hour shift and Sunday was my time to join them. We finished off the drumming to two tracks and then started on the lead and backing vocals. This was fun as I normally don't sing at all. After a grueling day and a two pies and coke special lunch break, we finished and it was declared "a wrap". Now its just the post production to wait for. Exciting stuff.

This Friday marks our arrival (Jenna Sighed) at Boston Rock Lounge where we will take part in the Battle of Woodstock Pt 1. Pull in and check us out. I have posted the event just below. Also this Saturday we arrive at  the Doors Nightclub to take part in the Punk VS Metal gig. Brought to you by Black Apple Productions. We are on at 18:30 and I have organized a great friend of mine Garrett Richardson to come and film me with a GoPro to do some "drum cam" shots as well as some other Awesome angles :)

I am also doing a photo shoot for Because of Betrayal. My other great friend Lionel Lodewick from Tutto Fotografia has let me use his studio this Saturday while mine is under renovations. These lads are really cool and their music is technical and brutal. Keep a look out for them at a show near you.

The Musical Month of June

Hey Guys and Girls,

So this is my first post on my blog. The idea of this blog is to keep everyone updated on what I get up to. Now this might be music, drumming, gigs, photography and anything I might feel like adding. so lets get cracking and check out what has gone down in the Storm Awesome camp this month.

Earlier in the month, Jenna Sighed entered the Emerging Sounds Battle of the Bands. We played an amazing show and are now going through to the Semi Finals to be held in October. Also, I did an amazing couple photo shoot for Matt and Tash. I am currently editing them and they will be up on my Photography page soon. I was also able to take part in a photo shoot with Lionel Lodewick from Tutto Fotografia and  Cherry Awesome. The vibe we were going for was a 1950’s pin up shoot. Also currently editing them and they will be on my page soon.

Two weeks back I signed my Agreement and became an Official Endorsee for Music Mate Parkmeadows. This is truly a dream come true and I made my first purchase with them as Endorsee last Saturday. It’s not everyday that you encounter great service from a Company. And everyone is so helpful. Monday I was a guest on the Oddcast. For those of you who are not aware. The Oddcast is podcast run by Odd Modlin and Ian Campbell. Their podcast dives into the whimsical world of geek life, games and interesting rants. I spoke to them about my music, photography, the industry and nipples. It was very fun.

Last Sunday I was at Wired Sound Studios in Parktown and we were recording the drum tracks for Energy Related’s album to be re-released “Strings of Life”. The guys there are super awesome and we had a really productive day and finished all 13 drum tracks in a few short hours. This weekend coming the rest of the band is going in to record the Guitars and bass and Sunday we finish up with the lead and backing vocals. Also this weekend, Jenna Sighed is playing an Emalyth show tilted Lure of Shadows. The show will be based at Rumour Lounge which is situated in the West Rand off Cornelius St. The venue holds capacity for lots of moshing and the sound set up is something to die for. Truly looking forward to the show and I trust everyone will keep that in their diaries. And finally next week Saturday which is the 30th June, we will be playing at the Black Apples Productions: Punk VS Metal show. This is also one not to miss as it will be held at the Doors Nightclub and the line up is definitely worth checking out.
